Duties

As a Behavior Technician, you will be responsible for providing direct support and assistance to individuals with developmental disabilities. Your main duties will include:

  • Support individuals with an intellectual/developmental disability in their home.
  • Transport individuals to their medical appointments, case management meetings, leisure activities, and other places they need and want to travel.
  • Assist with the assessment and evaluation of clients.
  • Support ADL/IADL tasks including:
    • Hygiene support
    • Bathing supports
    • Support after using the bathroom
    • Meal preparation
    • Scheduling daily reminders
    • Other duties related to individual independent supports
  • Provide active community engagement, coaching, and other social activities to best support individuals in their community.
  • Work closely with the state individual service plan to ensure all outcomes and goals are supported daily and/or weekly.
  • Collaborate with the treatment team to ensure consistent implementation of interventions.
  • Assist with the development of individualized treatment plans.
  • Monitor and report any changes or concerns in client behavior or progress.

Skills

To excel in this role, you should possess the following skills:

  • Knowledge of behavioral health principles and techniques.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology related to developmental disabilities.
  • Appropriate usage of cell phones, electronic health records, and smartphone applications.
  • Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, particularly autism spectrum disorder (ASD).
  • Proficiency in collecting and analyzing data related to client behavior and progress.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate and collaborate with clients, families, and the treatment team.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with managers, participate in supervision, and use tools to complete tasks.
  • Must have appropriate transportation, a high school diploma, and the ability to pass a background check.
