Duties
As a Behavior Technician, you will be responsible for providing direct support and assistance to individuals with developmental disabilities. Your main duties will include:
- Support individuals with an intellectual/developmental disability in their home.
- Transport individuals to their medical appointments, case management meetings, leisure activities, and other places they need and want to travel.
- Assist with the assessment and evaluation of clients.
- Support ADL/IADL tasks including:
- Hygiene support
- Bathing supports
- Support after using the bathroom
- Meal preparation
- Scheduling daily reminders
- Other duties related to individual independent supports
- Provide active community engagement, coaching, and other social activities to best support individuals in their community.
- Work closely with the state individual service plan to ensure all outcomes and goals are supported daily and/or weekly.
- Collaborate with the treatment team to ensure consistent implementation of interventions.
- Assist with the development of individualized treatment plans.
- Monitor and report any changes or concerns in client behavior or progress.
Skills
To excel in this role, you should possess the following skills:
- Knowledge of behavioral health principles and techniques.
- Familiarity with medical terminology related to developmental disabilities.
- Appropriate usage of cell phones, electronic health records, and smartphone applications.
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, particularly autism spectrum disorder (ASD).
- Proficiency in collecting and analyzing data related to client behavior and progress.
- Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate and collaborate with clients, families, and the treatment team.
- Ability to effectively communicate with managers, participate in supervision, and use tools to complete tasks.
- Must have appropriate transportation, a high school diploma, and the ability to pass a background check.
